Suddenly we have vegetables!

It’s always a pleasurable surprise when vegetables start arriving in quantity - I know it’s going to happen, in fact I’m waiting for it to happen, but still it catches me unawares. One minute I have single courgette and six peas, next week a mini glut. Woopeee!

The Broad Beans are in full swing and taste so sweet. These are from the Jubilee Hysor planted in October last year. The spring 2008 ones aren’t quite ready yet.

Then there are the courgettes, radishes, snap peas as well as the potatoes I started early in a pot in the greenhouse. I tried to make a suitable rider with rhubarb, spring onions and the lettuce but it didn’t look quite artistic enough - I have very high standards as you can see.

All of your veggies look great. I can’t wait for this to happen at our house though I’m starting to think it never will. It is so hot and everything is really suffering. Maybe we will be suprised and be blessed with more veggies than we can eat!

Wonderful vegetables! Someone who has never grown their own doesn’t know what theye are missing. It is the planting, the tending, watching them grow and then the harvest, super as my grandchildren say!
