Drip, drip, drip, squelch!
Rain does have the advantage of making the garden borders look nice and fresh, and the plants are so lush. I’m the droopy one, waiting for the sun to shine. In the meantime I thought a few wet photos might be appropriate.
The photo doesn’t capture how dark this Aeonium and but it does hold raindrops in a very attractive way.
I love hardy geraniums and many are still flowering in my borders.
I’ve had this unknown red Canna in a pot for ages and it has done very little. Occasionally it flowers but the flowers are small and the foliage, though attractive, was never very profuse. I got tired of lugging the pot in and out of the greenhouse each year so I’ve transferred it into one of the garden borders where it can sink or swim! It still hasn’t flowered but the foliage is so rich and luxuriant at the moment. Note the neat row of holes left by some visiting insect or slug etc when the leaves were still rolled up tight. I have high hopes that the plant will get a new lease of life now (should it survive the winter). I’ll post another picture when it flowers
Who can resist a Fuchsia even though some of them are rather flashy and blowsy. I prefer the species types but I still can’t resist their essential cheeriness.
Finally the tomatoes are in full swing and Sungold is the best flavoured one I’m growing. A lovely looking tomato with a superb taste. They are small enough to eat whole. Perfect! The only downside is that it’s a hybrid variety so seed won’t come true and the fruit does tend to split - but who cares.

It all looks lovely. I love the pattern of the rain on the canna leaf. I haven’t dared put my cannas in the ground, because the only way I can keep the snails off is to start them off somewhere very hot and dry, then move them around the garden. But it is backbreaking, I agree.
Those raindrops really do look fresh - I can almost smell that after-rain freshness.
Lovely photos. The tomato looks good - ours are still tiny and green.
Isn’t it nice when the skies do our watering for us? Consolation for a grey day. Nice canna photo!
Happy gardening,

Ohhh that sungold is washed and ready to eat! I love how the fresh garden aroma after the rain, too.
Lovely photos! I like geraniums too - such a beautiful colour. Thanks for adding me to your favourites on Blotanical. All the best for your gardening.
Victoria - I’m thinking of some kind of collar about 2 feet with gravel inside to protect from slugs + organic slug pellets if the slugs break through. Probably more effort than lifting the pot out of the greenhouse!
Nancy - Yes there is that fresh, glowing feel.
HappyMouffetard - the advantage of Sungold is that it’s very early and ripens well outside.
Karen - Thanks. At least rain does some good even if too much is depressing.
Paula - Yes it does look appetising.
Chaiselongue - It’s a pleasure. I was having one of my Blotanical updating days.
