LAPCPADPOUB day (a day early)
I’m away tomorrow so I’m posting this a day early.
Today is LAPCPADPOUB day (Lets all post cat photos and dire poetry on our Blogs day). This event is being co-ordinated by HappyMouffetard ( The Inelegant Gardener). This is my contribution in appreciation of all cats and my three in particular.
Halki the black one in front is the 13 and he is technically the boss. Georgie the tabby and Cozzie on the right are sisters. They are 11 and hate each other. Georgie lives upstairs and the other one downstairs. A truce is called at mealtimes.
THREE CATS IN BAD POETRY
Furry is as furry does
And the three of you do nothing at all
Except sleep, eat and scratch the wall.
Is there a reason why you’re here,
Some hidden talent that makes it clear
That cats have a purpose,
A meaning in life,
Not just here to give me strife?
My cats look at me as if to say,
Why does there have to be a reason
To lie in the sun whatever the season.
So what if we’re always licking our bottoms
You humans have habits equally rotten.
And carry them out
With far less grace
We’re beautiful, and that’s what counts.
(Did you know that there are no approporiate words to rhyme with bottoms. The life of a poet is hard!)

What an excellent poem: an admirable solution to the bottom rhyming problem (without resorting to bum or butt which is what a cheaper, less talented poet would have done).
James – Thank you. A poet however modest has her standards to keep up :-)
Well, there you go. It had never occurred to me that the word ‘bottoms’ didn’t have a rhyme.
That’s the wonder of LAPCPADPOOB Day – bringing the world together with dire poetry, and educational as well.
Great poem – thank you for joining in!
(Love the cats, too!)
Bottom – rotten. That kind of rhyme is advanced poetic skill.
Sheer genius.
I like how your warring pair have divided the house between them – masterful cat diplomacy at work there.
I had two cats that were sisters and hated each other – strange isn’t it.
Ummm – if VP says that your rhyme has “advanced poetic skill” and James thinks it is “excellent” – it may be too good for dire poetry :)
K
Great poetry! Lovely cats. Mine is up too.
Kewt kittycats, great pome and how clever that you figured out that the meaning of a cat’s life is to be beautiful, totally useless but gorgeous with it. ;-)
Happy LAPCPADPOUB Day!
