The greenhouse is full and the plants can relax
Following on from my previous post I have now filled up the greenhouse with my tender plants. The fan heater is set to keep the minimum temperature to about 5 degrees above freezing and the bubble fabric gives extra insulation.
Our winters are relatively mild here that I’m not too worried about frost damage although disease and pests can be a problem if they decide to hang out in the warmest spot in the garden. Good ventilation helps keep disease to a minimum and I’m carrying spiders into the greenhouse in the hope that they will eat all the nasties that the Carnivorous plants haven’t polished off. I do like spiders (except the one that insists on building a web across the doorway into the greenhouse). The spider in the picture is so named because it carries its eggs in a sac under its abdomen during the breeding period.
The tender plants can now relax and some of them continue to flower in the extra warmth. These flowers are a rich velvety red.
Some just want to show off their foliage.

Your green house looked a lot bigger in the last post, with the empty shelves. : ) You certainly make maximum use of the space. It must be satisfying to be able to tend your plants as the outside temperatures drop.
I like the idea of the spider greenhouse patrol, except for the web in the face part.
Gosh, this looks great; it is good that you have such a nice place to overwinter your tender plants. The geranium has gorgeous colour and the solanum pyracantum looks unusual to me. Are this thorns sticking up?
Lovely – a full greenhouse! (again)
Love that leaf on the solanum

Thank-you, I have loved seeing the transformation of your greenhouse. :-D
I will be starting to fill my tiny 6ft x 4ft one over the next few weeks too. I don’t protect or heat it for winter but use it more like a big cold frame for cuttings and a few plants in pots for safe keeping. I love to see it stocked up knowing I am protecting my plants and growing on new ones at the same time even at this time of year :-D
You must be well chuffed looking at your greenhouse now and rightly so! I am sure you will inspire many others too :-D
Lovely photos – the greenhouse looks cosdy enough to curl up in. The pelargonium is beautiful.
