Awww, poor Georgie. I've dealt with stressed kitties before and as frustrating as it is for us, think how bad it must be for them. Cats are generally very fastidious about their cleanliness, so those darn roofers have obviously gotten her very upset.

I agree with Yolanda Elizabet...give her a safe place until this is all over. Even if that doesn't help, at least she will have her "accidents" in one spot and you won't have to watch her 24/7. Maybe too, the private secluded spot will let her know that nothing is going to happen to her in that little spot and she'll relax a little bit. That, as opposed to having a whole floor of a house to worry about.

She's a beautiful, beautiful cat and I hope life returns to normal for you all very soon!

Poor you, poor Georgie. Give her lots of cuddles and perhaps you could put her in a room with a littertray where it's nice, safe and quiet. Hopefully the builders will be gone soon leaving you with a nice new roof over your head.

Hey, I thought about you today while I was off taking pictures. Have you seen the Jim Shore critters? He has a whole set of the funniest cats you ever saw. Look him up!

A cat behaviorist told me once that when you mess with a cat's territory, it's like you are burning down their house. Or in this case, literally ripping the roof off! That's a lot of stress for a feline, especially a getting-older one. If she's into using the bathroom, I've read that some people have success with training their cat to go into the actual toilet. But maybe that's for younger kitties. Good luck, hang in there, this too shall pass!!

Trying times for Georgie and for you too! I suppose with age change is hard to accept. I just hope he gets back to his usual self once work on the roof is over.

I've had Cat Issues before, too, I know how bad that can be. A few tricks, if you haven't tried them already. There's a product called feliway, that comes in a diffuser you plug in, or in a spray, that is supposed to ease cat stress. Didn't work for my bad cat, but I hear some people have good luck with it. Try providing multiple litter boxes, some cats like to have two, or won't use one after it's been used. Experiment with different litter in each until you figure out a favorite. There's a product called Cat Attract that you sprinkle in the litter that is supposed to encourage them using the right spot. As my cats get older, sometimes they need bigger boxes. I've even tried an underbed rubbermaid storage box.
I sound like a crazy cat lady, but I have fostered a lot, not all the cats were mine permanently, but those are the things the behaviorist at the humane society advised me to try.

I must say cats peeing in the house make my dog digging problem not so big anymore. I see their annoying habits now! Sure is cute and I do hope the peeing stops soon. Once the roofing is done she'll be back to her old self hopefully-and catching those squirrels!
