Whooo! I’ve got snow, real snow

I know it’s only temporary British snow but I’ll take what I can get.
It will be gone in a few days but for now the garden is transformed.

My bird feeders hangingĀ  on the line across the garden each have a snowy hat.

What a magical transformation. The bamboo looks beautiful indeed.

Kanak: Yes it is a transformation which is why I love snow so much!

That’s fantastic – I know how exciting it is when you get proper snow! Love the bamboo shot.

Trouble is, all the shops will be selling summer shoes by now, won’t they? Might be hard to get some proper boots…

Amanda: Yes as usual the shops will be full of summer sandals (why?) and any boots will be decorative and let in water!

LOL :)
We haven’t got any …. to speak of, just a dusting and that was gone by mid-day.
Your garden looks beautiful under its white blanket.

PS – I can lend you boots, (tee hee)
K

Karen: Typical I’ve got the snow and you have the boots (lol) Shows how mild our winters are down here that I haven’t bothered to buy any. Serves me right!

I’ve just been out in my inappropriate footwear too :)

We’ve got less than you, but I’m just as excited about it!

VP: I thought about building a snowman but I’ve managed to hold myself in check (lol)

It is very pretty .

Darla: It is isn’t it, particularly as we don’t see it very often!

Glad you are enjoying the snow. I love how pretty it makes everything look, just hate how it shuts down life in our city (Seattle) due to all the hills and lack of road clearing. Hope you get to enjoy it for a while and it doesn’t cause you any stress!

Karen: I expect the snow to be gone in a couple of days, so the novelty doesn’t get a chance to wear off (lol)

It does give your garden a magical look! Very pretty! :)

Racquel: It is isn’t it. Magical!

Hi EG, oh how funny about your lack of boots, well not funny for cold wet feet though! Transformed is the word, isn’t it? I guess we both get excited with it because it is quite rare for us. I love when it first falls and there are no footprints, pristine and pure.
I do love your covered bench too!
Frances

Frances: Yes the rarity adds extra value. We never get a chance to get bored or go stir crazy :-)

Your garden looks so pretty in the snow. Isn’t it funny how, despite the fact it’s freezing cold, the snow makes things look sort of cosy? I love the hats on the birdfeeders.

Victoria: I suppose we always see snow as a blanket – all cosy and warm!

We in Buffalo are not impressed with your little, puny, girlie, snowfall. Although I would like to have the bench/arbor thingy.

Jim: It may be puny but it does disappear after a few days. Admit it – wouldn’t you like snow like that (lol)

Gravatar 13 Titania { 02.03.09 at 12:07 pm }

The fresh snow looks very pretty, free decoration. It is nice to see the garden in a different outfit, it suits it very well. The news were showing London under a lot of snow. The cars had not fitted winter tyres, slithered around not used or expected roads covered in snow.

Titania: We have never had winter tyres in the UK or made much attempt to cope with snow over the years. Don’t ask me why. Now we get even less of it we just hope it goes away soon – which it usually does!

Okay, you got me there. If the ten inches we have on the ground, that’s been there for the last week or more, would have left a while ago, I wouldn’t be so cranky. Enjoy your girlie snow.

Jim: Thank you I will – though it is fast disappearing even as I type!

Gravatar 15 Mr. McGregor's Daughter { 02.03.09 at 8:14 pm }

I have to laugh at Jim’s description of your snow as “girlie.” Jim may be complaining about 10 inches on the ground for a week, but I’ve been dealing with about 2 feet on the ground for nearly a month. I think that qualifies me to state categorically that sneakers are definitely not what you should be wearing in the snow. At least put on wellies or garden clogs with a couple of pairs of socks! (BTW, I wore shoes on Saturday for the first time in a couple of months. It made a nice change from the snowboots.)

MMD: Unfortunately I have no wellies or boots of any kind. Sad really given that I’m a gardener. The weather here is usually so mild (and I haven’t got a dog to walk) that I keep putting off buying any. Serves me right!

Isn’t it wonderful? We had good snow here this year too. When it doesn’t come often, you can just sit back and enjoy it. I know I’d be sick of it if I lived in a snowier climate, but when you only see it for a couple days every couple years, there’s nothing to do but enjoy it.

P.S. I garden in muck boots when I’m really doing muddy work, they were pretty terrific in the snow too.

I bow to you, and stand in humble awe of your snowfall, Mrs. McGregor’s Daughter.

Gravatar 18 Ilona { 02.04.09 at 12:10 am }

How lovely! I would feel quite at home there :)

Gravatar 19 VP { 02.04.09 at 9:14 pm }

I demand a snowman immediately!
