Pashley Manor and Sculpture in the Garden
Recently I visited Pashley Manor which was hosting a “Sculpture in the Garden” event. All the works were for sale. The garden itself is wonderful and well worth a visit, even when the sculpture is not on show. Here are a few pictures to give you an idea of what was on offer. Please click on the pictures for a closer look.
Pashley Manor is a Grade 1 listed house dating from 1550 and enlarged in 1720.
Opposite the entrance was this mysterious figure.
Or perhaps you might like someone more approachable.
See the Bronze figures by the side of the pool.
Opposite the pool was this greenhouse filled with tender plants. The Jasmine smelled wonderful!
Behind the greenhouse was an impressive Kitchen Garden.
Out in the main garden there were more sculptures.
I wonder which one of the Miss Bennets in ‘Pride and Prejudice’ this might be – Elizabeth or Jane?
Beyond the large flower borders was an are of woodland. There were some interesting carvings made of wood and attached to trees. It was an ideal way to show them to advantage.
The woodland walk led into a large field and back into the garden via these gates.
And then past a lake surrounded with more sculptures. If you look closely at this picture you can see two real birds and one bronze one!
This is a very romantic garden with many beautiful views.
Here we have another figure engrossed in a book. I would love to sit beside her.
I did like this one below and could easily have taken it home….if I had had pots of money!
Instead I bought these. Now I have to find somewhere in the garden to stand them.
I am going to be away for a week so will not be posting or commenting for a while. The Digger and I are off to Devon to do some more garden visits…and a nursery or two!

What a beautiful place! And what a great idea to display those sculptures like that. I really liked the ‘lazy days’ one. I can identify with that!
Stunning this garden….the sculptures are a great additional interest.
What a beautiful place. Some of the sculptures are interesting too. They look quite expensive though.
Thank you for the tour of the gardens and sculptures – I love your purchases. Have a good holiday!
What a lovely garden and the sculptures make it even more interesting. Thanks for the tour!
Your purchases should look great in your garden, can’t wait to see where you decide to place them. Have fun on your holiday.
Oh I do like your new additions to the garden EG ! Thanks for the tour of the manor – not sure about that mysterious statue but the others are most pleasing on the eye. Enjoy Devon – we were there last summer for a week – lots of lovely gardens to visit and nurseries and of course there are those cream teas. Enjoy !

Hi EG, thanks for the tour. The garden is truly beautiful and the sculptures add to the (mysterious) charm! The ones you bought look lovely. Have a good break and I look forward to reading all about your Devon break.
These photos had me gasping. Can you imagine living in such splendor? What a place! Thanks for sharing, it will go on my wish list for garden tours for someday. Not wild about all those bronze people, I far prefer your lovely leaves. I think you got the best things shown here! Hope you have a great trip.
