Nibbling the ducks and decorative junk
Can I blame the Badger for this or is it Squirrels? Could it be a mysterious Duck assassin? Who knows.
Big Duck survived the attack but little Duck lost many of his “feathers”. I think he will soon be bald!
Let us avert our eyes from this sad sight and contemplate something more soothing.
The gnomon (the shadow casting part of my sundial) has long gone so the old sundial is now the place for attractive junk, mostly fossils.
Gnomon….now that’s an odd word. Pronounced “no mon” apparently.
I have just noticed the grey theme to the pictures. It suits my mood at the moment.
I hate the grey skies and short daylight hours at this time of year. I’ll have to find something colourful for the next post.

Oh poor little ducky! That is hardly what I would call junk, those lovely fossils. More like treasures from the earth. Hope you get some sunny skies soon.

Aww, widdle ickle ducky, such is life alas! And the junk is pretty pretty I’d say. If you want colour, come and visit Bliss.;-)
Poor little duck! Maybe it is a sign that the foxes are getting hungry now it is getting colder?
I know what you mean about grey skies…this is the ugly weather now. Even my hair is saying ‘urgh!’ I don’t like this…from now on there will be lots of bad hair days. I will be frizzy, fly-away and lank…’ In the summer it is much happier…why am I talking about hair in relation to weather?! I don’t know! xxx

Gray mood and gray skies or not, I love that sundial with its various accroutements. It looks like a piece of sculpture in the garden. Cheer up, spring will be here in a blink of an eye (or so it seems now a days).
Maybe a fox? MB
Found fossils, or bought fossils? Is there a story there?
Silly me, I didn’t notice your Greenforks when I saw your other posts. I’m pretty sure I’ve been here before. I’m so scatterbrained, and there are so many blogs I like, that I don’t keep up well. I’m sorry about your ducks. It’s gray out my window right now, too.
Whatever your Duck Assassin may be, it must’ve been eyeing your ‘sitting ducks’ for a while! Too bad about that. I hope the ‘survivor’ doesn’t feel lonely. Pretty fossils! Hope you’re in for a spell of sunny weather!
The duck had certainly its feathers ruffled, poor thing! For the sundial,
{you won’t need the no mon at the moment! The arrangement of interesting fossils are well displayed. I like it.
The mystery must be sending you quackers. Like the sundial and its fosssils. Glimpses of blue out there today – hope it’s the same in your neck of the woods.
The poor little duckling. Shame on those squirrels or badger. I like the reuse of the sundial for fossils.
This is a great post.. Very informative… I can see that you put a lot of hard work on your every post that’s why I think I’d come here more often. Keep it up! By the way, you can also drop by my blogs. They’re about Vegetable Gardening and Composting. I’m sure you’d find my blogs helpful too.
Hmmm, mysteriouser and mysteriouser. You should hide behind a bush some night to see if you can see who is nibbling those poor creatures.
Nice fossils, by the way. No one will miss the gnomon.
