Narcissus tazetta indoors – the easy peasy way
I’ve never been a fan of growing or forcing bulbs indoors, especially trying to get flowers for a particular date such as Christmas. I remember trying it years ago and getting lanky leaves and very few flowers. I could not I get the hang of keeping bulbs in the dark for a certain period of time then lifting them out and putting them somewhere cool etc etc. It’s not that I’m lazy it’s just that………errr!
Then I saw a link to Silvertreedaze in one of the blogs I read. This isn’t forcing in the dark but it seemed straight forward so I gave it a go. I had never grown Narcissi tazetta before but I have read about them in a number of blogs. They have a lovely fragrance too – what could be better!
All you need is a container without holes in the bottom, some gravel, the bulbs and water. Decorative pebbles are optional. I did not care when they flowered – as long as they flowered. Mine took just over 3 weeks for the first flower to open. I was very pleased with the result and I will plant them in the garden when they have finished indoors.
I have forgotten whose blog it was led me to Silvertreedaze. If you let me know I’ll add a link.

Yesterday, I was thinking about that very post on Silvertreedaze . I know the top photo is of your results – but it does makes your path look very inviting.
