And so a whole New Year begins – but something is missing
I am trying hard to emerge from the cocoon of inertia that is the Christmas festivities. Much as I like Christmas I end up with a brain the size of a peanut and as much energy as a wavering candle flame. I blame the dark evenings and too many bright twinkling lights….too much eating and drinking has got nothing to do with it.
We had a laid back kind of holiday and thoroughly enjoyed it.
The cats slept.
We did the holiday jigsaw, a family tradition. What could be more soothing. Note the cat theme to this post – so clever.
But look. How exasperating is this. 999 pieces out of 1,000.
I blame the cats who kept lounging among the pieces and knocking them on the floor. Now none of us can pass a piece of furniture without getting down on our hands and knees and looking underneath. I’m sure the rest of 2010 will be much less irritating.
I hope you all have an auspicious New Year and that your gardens flourish just as you planned.
Roll on Spring.

Oh how hilarious! The cats must have been in cahoots with the felines in the puzzle, just to mix it up a bit. The eyes below the missing piece have guilt written all over them.
Our own brain is peanut size as well, out of the shell. Now we must recover from so much fun. Hope your 2010 is the best year ever! :-)

Glad you had a good holiday and Happy New Year

Yes that sounds like Christmas and New Year to me. Pleased that you had a good one. We went to a party on New Years Eve and all yesterday I felt so tired and hungover. Thing was I never had a drop of alcohol. Strange that….
We’ve been to a picnic and a dinner, with more to follow….the cold is getting a bit too much for us now.
Wishing you a wonderful 2010!
I hope you find the missing piece! Cats seem to know how to live! I could curl up and sleep for days. Happy New Year! Carol
Quite right EG – it’s the dark nights that diminish our energy – nowt to do with over indulgence. Wishing you a happy, healthy and peaceful new year. May all your flowers and veggies flourish in the new decade :)
A very Happy New year for 2010 – as you say let’s hope that your year takes on a less irritating theme than this jigsaw – think of all those lovely plants that will be coming up in the garden this year… I always find that Jan/Feb is that time of anticipation before things really start to kick off… take care Miranda
I reckon one of those beasties ate the last piece of puzzle or batted it under a sofa or bureau so that many years from now you will discover it all covered in dust! Aren’t cats lucky though…all that sleeping! Happy New Year to you my dear! Hope 2010 goes smoothly and the sunshine comes back soon! xxx
