We need the sun – and that includes me

One flower that needs the sun is the Crocus. Up it comes and and I get all excited. Then, for grey day after grey day the flowers sit tightly folded. “Hmm”…they say…”no way are we opening until the sun comes out”.

Then the sun comes out.

Suddenly the garden looks much brighter.

There are slightly later varieties to come so I hope the sun keeps shining.

I need it too!

Happy looking crocus with full blast yellow. Over here, it is getting a bit hot, and hopefuly there will be more clouds to shield the scorching rays… ~bangchik

I love it too when they open up their little petals to bask in the winter sunlight.

Our crocusses are waiting to bloom… but the sun doesn’t come.
This weekend the sun sometimes peeked through the clouds for one minute, and with every ray of sun I ran to see if they were opening. But of course those flowers aren’t so easily fooled into disclosing their nectar. They want some sun for at least 15 minutes, before they open… So they didn’t this weekend.

These are really beautiful easygardener – I am so sorry to report we have had two weeks of blue sky and sunshine – although I still had to wear 4 layers of clothes!

Lovely crocuses. I feel the same as they do about the sun!

This is a very useful post for me – finally I can sort out which of my yellow Crocuses are ancryensis golden bunch and which are romance – it’s been driving me mad because I like and want to buy more of one lot of them and I don’t much like the other (now I know I like the golden bunch) – thank you!

These are really lovely flowers. I wish I could grow them in the desert!

Well they are trying their best to bloom for you. They are lovely. Did you get that snow?

They are instant sunshine EG. Here it seems to be getting colder by the day – biting wind and yet more snow again tonight. Roll on spring!
