A Famous Belgian
We have been to Belgium for a few days, staying in Brussels. There is lots to see there, including a famous Belgian who is not Agatha Christie’s Hercule Poirot. I mean of course the Manneken Pis (Flemish for ‘Little man urinating’).
Here he is in all his glory.
There is a tradition of dressing him up in a series of costumes. Perhaps they have stopped doing that. We pop into a nearby bar for a drink. But look, what have we here – a crowd has gathered near the Manneken Pis. What can it mean?
Well I never!
It shows that fictional vampires are popular all over the world, though I think present day vampires would find that cape very uncool – especially now that it is very, very damp.

Think I prefer him without clothes best. The cheeky little soand so. Pleased you had a good trip.
That’s so funny that they’d dress him up, but I suppose it’s better than putting soap flakes in the fountain!
He does not seemt to be to happy in his black cape, reading his face he is rather p…..off!! Great to visit an other country and sample the Belgian air.
nice information and photos
I’ve seen him a couple times – once in a military outfit. When I saw the headline, “A Famous Belgian” I thought it was going to be a beer.
Aaaaaaaaw – preferred him in his birthday suit :)
His expression says it all, lol. ;)
I love it! What a great mask and cape! gail
hej, you taught me (a much less famous Belgian) something : I have never seen him with a mask (other props like beard or goggles yes). The wind kind of ruined his day I guess ;-) maybe the mask was to hide his real expression…
