Malvern Spring Show – where virtual bloggers become a reality
The Digger and I enjoyed our trip to the Malvern Spring Show where a garden bloggers’ get together took place. It was fascinating to meet people who I had virtually “known” for over a year and others who I had never met before. It was especially lovely meeting Frances, Gail, Yolanda and Ewa who came over from the USA, Netherlands and Poland.
It was our first visit to the show and we enjoyed it immensely. There were lots of plants and garden sundries to buy. Everyone was walking around with full bags and trolleys.
I saw these carved wood garden seats and loved them. I decided we could squeeze one single chair into the back of the car, though it did take a while to manoeuvre it in !
Best of all were the show gardens. They are always interesting to look at whether you like them or not. There is always a chance there will be some feature or planting I can use in my own garden. I would love to have the log arch in the third picture below.
There were plants of course and many were for sale. I was quite restrained and only bought nine plants in total including three species Pelargoniums. These Alliums and Echium pininana caught my eye in one of the show gardens.
There was also entertainment at the Show as you can see. Cleve West, James Alexander-Sinclair and Joe Swift demonstrate their dancing skills. The lengths some people will go to to get a round of applause!
Many thanks to VP and The Patient Gardener for organising this very entertaining weekend.

Arh, now I know who you are. I was confused when you said Easy Gardener! Great to meet you and Digger and glad you had a fab time
It is so lovely to be able to read this post and have a picture of you in my head
I am green with envy – those seats were wonderful
So nice to meet you Easygardener and The Digger

It is fun to see different shots of the same garden exhibits… Glad you all had a great meet up! I have heard about ‘Three Men Went to Mow’!
It’s always fun to meet garden bloggers in person. I agree, that log arch is inspired. We have have quite a lot of logs around here from some dead trees we removed…and now that photo has me thinking…
It was great to meet you and Digger but whatever happened to your sunglasses theory? :) Like those seats.
Such a treat to meet you! I believe you have summed up this huge event very well, hitting the highlights. But the fact that you bought one of those chairs, not to mention plants brings back the tears that were shed when we saw what was available for sale there. Gail and I did what we could for the economy of the UK, but having to get the purchases into the suitcase and obey all laws was quite a strain. :-)
xo,
Frances
I love the wooden seats and the log arch too :-D
I’m not sure about the three men though – judging by your photos, the dance has a bit of a Village People look about it – all they need are the costumes and a moustache or two …
I have enjoyed your photos of some of the show gardens, and have come back a few times to enlarge them and note all of the little details. It’s such fun to see the ideas, but of course not as as fun as it must have been in person. Plus, the blogging company must have made it a real treat.
Lucky you to be able to buy plants and that seat!
It was great meeting you and the Digger and that we were able to chat for a bit.
Like you I liked the entrance to the Owl and the Pussycat very much. Liked that whole garden in fact. ;-)
Sounds like you had a nice weekend. I love those carved benches and the different structures in the display gardens are cool. :)
The setting looks so striking – with the hills – it must be crucial to the atmosphere.
