Back home and ignoring the garden until tomorrow
We are back home from our holiday on the Greek island of Ithica. It was very relaxing and there was lots of sun. I loved the beautiful view from the balcony of the house we were staying in.
There was even a small swimming pool to keep us cool. Twice a day a flock of Swallows would sweep down and briefly dip themselves into the water before flying off again. Amazing to watch.
I read a lot of books and we went for walks. There were little churches to look at….
…..and amazing scenery – rarely any other people around.
Special indeed was the walk that ended on a high note – especially on a hot day!
I am ignoring the garden for the moment. I can see a very tall weed from the window but I am staying calm -until tomorrow!

Welcome back! It looks like great fun and don’t worry about that garden, it’ll be fine. What a great view from the hotel room.
The weeds will wait for you another day or two or three. I would imagine it difficult to readjust your mindset after living that sort of life. It looks and sounds like heaven to me. :-)

Wonderful views, books, walks and no weeding – you’ve been to paradise! Welcome back. Please, excuse our dirty nails…
Oh my, I feel more relaxed just looking at your photos. Welcome back! Take a few more days before tackling the garden…the weeds can wait.
This reminds me of the Mary Chapin Carpenter song, “What if we went to Italy” with the line about taking a suitcase of books and one bag a piece, and
“What if we spent all of our days, improving our minds, learning new ways to be lazy
It wouldn’t be too much of a strain
Relax after breakfast till lunch comes around
Can’t wait for dinner, oh, i need to lie down
And refuel, out by the pool”
Sounds like a heavenly vacation.
Beautiful photos!
Those photographs were very easy on the eyes. I like the idea of going to a place that you aren’t surrounded by other people. Hmm, I still think my favorite image was the one featuring the cold beer. Yummy! ;)
That island is going on my Life List. I have never been to Greece and partly it is due to what I fear to be the hordes of tourists. Sounds like you found a secluded spot! Maybe I will hit you up for the location someday. :) I hope you ignore the weeds for a little while longer and keep that sun-soaked island feeling for a good long time!
