Blooming Friday – Centrepiece

Welcome to Blooming Friday where we are looking at centrepieces.

Here is a metal sculpture which stands in the centre of a grass lawn. It is in the garden of a manor house which I visited last year.

Every year the glass house at Wisley garden has a Butterfly event where butterflies are allowed to fly amongst the Tropical plants growing there. It is an amazing sight and a chance to see these beautiful butterflies up close. I took a picture of this one as it rested in the centre of a plate of fruit.

The wildlife in my garden is less exotic. At present he centre of my bird table is always occupied by Pigeons….Pigeons….Pigeons. All the food disappears in an instant.

That metal sculpture looks dramatic in the midst of that huge lawn. I also like the shot of the butterfly. At least pigeons are better than crows. Any grain/seed is immediately devoured by crows who descend in hordes here!

Wow what a beautiful sculpture ! I liked it a lot ! Pigeons are exotic to me. Living in the countyside there is not a lot of them. But for a couple of years now we have a pair of pigeons building home in one of our pines. I like that ! Have a nice weekend !

I love that sculpture. I’m really starting to appreciate the role of sculpture in the garden and would love something for my own. I used to live not far from Wisley and we used to go all the time but since we moved 6 years ago I haven’t got to see the new glasshouse. Another thing to go on my to do list for the year.

You do like sculpture don’t you!! Lovely to see some on your blog! Would love to see the butterflies at Wisley, that must have been really fantastic to see such unusual ones in the glass house, must put it on the list of things to do.
We have lots of wood pigeons but feed the other birds from bird feeders that hang from a pole, the pigeons can’t manage to feed from them, they just get the spillage on the ground, this way, everyone gets fed!

I hope the pigeons pay back by eating a lot of insects in the summer…
Take care,

I guess you need to buy big bags of bird seed in order to keep your hungry visitors satisfied. ; )

Not at all sure about the sculpture at Chenies although it does pick up on the clipped box(?) rather nicely. Much prefer your bird table.
